Case Study:Stock Control Systems for Avventure
Background:
Avventure Limited is an IT solutions company based in the UK (Midlands). The company was formed in 2000 and now operates through associated trading divisions and marketing partners, in a number of business areas. One of Avventure’s customers is a specialist vehicle maintenance and repair business. Avventure was asked to develop new IT systems for them to replace their legacy systems.
This includes a Stock Control System to enable them to control their stock levels and to easily source parts from their suppliers as required. It also includes Customer, Appointment and Quote systems that enable them to manage the workflow effectively & streamlines the day-to-day operations of the repair shop making it more productive and profitable.
Solution:
Avventure asked genus to help them with the development of these particular systems because of genus’ depth of expertise in working with Microsoft Technology and their background in Inventory Management Systems. The functionality is being rolled out in phases, and several of these phases have already been successfully implemented to timescales set by Avventure and within the agreed budget. In fact the latest phase to be rolled out (the quotes module) had to be implemented ahead of schedule due to a failure in the end users legacy system.
Technology:
The solution developed was on Windows XP platform but had to be compatible with Windows 2000.
The applications use the following Microsoft technologies VB6, Access and Excel. VB6 to present the information to the user, Access to store the data entered and Excel to generate the reports.
"We needed additional design and coding resource on
this major development project and the Genus team
have proved to be a highly professional development
partner. In particular we have appreciated their
flexible approach. The Genus work has been of a high
quality and has been delivered on time. We look forward
to working with them on a number of future projects."
