Case Study:Financial Advice Systems for Crystal

Background:

Crystal Software Solutions are an IT development company based in Droitwich, UK. The company specialises in Financial Advice Administration Systems Development.

One of Crystal’s customers is a leading national Financial Service Advice Company.

Solution:

Crystal Software Solutions have developed a system to administer Financial advice in the mortgage sector. Due to government legislation being introduced in this area, enhancements to the system were required. The legislation required that tighter audits surrounded any advice offered to potential clients. This meant that certain documentation would be required at the outset of any application process. This was the area of work that Genus resources were involved in.The project to create the document production screen spanned a three month period and was successfully implemented in October 2004 to timescales set by Crystal and within the agreed budget.

The System

The system has a web-page front end. When a page is accessed, the application to be run is initiated on the local machine and any data required within the application is passed to the local machine and built as an (XML) file – the data having been passed to the file from the server based database.

The application uses and manipulates the data as required and when it has been finished with, passes it back to the on-line server to be integrated into the server database

Technology:

The system was developed for a Windows XP platform using Microsoft VB .NET technology.
