Case Study:Public House Information System for Moliere
Background:
Moliere is a specialist independent IT consultancy based in Manchester UK. The company specialises in Systems Development and Project Management.
One of Molieres customers is a leading national independent managed pub operator with over 45,000 employees and managing over 2400 pubs nationwide. Moliere was asked to assist them in the conversion of several systems following a major acquisition.
This included a system for managing the information provided for the various machines installed in each pub and the suppliers who provided them. This essential system had to be adapted to cope with the requirements of the new larger group following the acquisition.
Solution:
Moliere asked genus to help them with the conversion of this particular system because of genus depth of expertise in working with UNIX, RDBMS and COBOL systems. The project spanned a three month period and was successfully implemented in October 2004 to timescales set by Moliere and within the agreed budget.
Technology:
The solution developed was on an INGRES database running under Sun Solaris.
The batch processing was written in COBOL with embedded SQL.
"Moliere prides itself on being able to deliver to time and to budget. To enable
us to do so we need to be able to flex resources as and when a project dictates. Genus
Systems provides us with this flexibility by supplying highly skilled consultants
to compliment our own."
